Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy aims at stating clearly the methods of processing of personal information related to users/visitors of the EDQ website. Web users and visitors should read carefully this Privacy Policy to understand how their personal information are processed.

For the purpose of the Bulgarian Personal Data Protection Act (“the Act” that came into force on 1st January 2002 and is available in English at http://www.ceecprivacy.org/pdf/law_bulgaria.pdf) the “data controller” is Procon [Procon Ltd., P.O. Box 43, BG-Sofia 1111, Bulgaria, http://procon.bg/). Inside Procon, data generated through the EDQ website are processed by the employees in charge of the European Data Quarterly. They can be shared only in aggregated form with stakeholders such as Editorial Board and potential sponsors. Procon may disclose collected personal information to the extent that it is required to do so by law, in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings, and in order to establish, exercise or defend its legal rights.

This Privacy Policy only applies to the EDQ website. If users/visitors leave the website via a link or otherwise, they will be subject to the policies of that website provider. Procon has no control over the policies or terms of that website and users/visitors should check them before continuing to access the site. Procon may collect and process the following data about visitors to/users of the EDQ website:

  • Information (name, surname, email address) that are provide voluntarily by users by filling in forms on the EDQ website. This includes information provided at the time of subscribing to the EDQ newsletters or requesting further information. No users’ personal data are collected and processed unless voluntarily supplied through the EDQ website or e-mail. Procon may also ask users/visitors for information when they report a problem/issue with the website.
  • If contacted, Procon may keep a record of that correspondence.
  • Details of users visits to the EDQ website including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs, operating system, browser usage and other communication data.
  • No sensitive data are requested and processed.

Procon may collect information about users/visitors computer, including where available IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration. This is statistical data about EDQ users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual and we will not collect personal information in this way.

Neither cookies for the transmission of personal data, nor any so-called persistent cookies (systems for tracking users) are employed. The use of the so-called session cookies (that, in any case, are not stored persistently on the user's computer and are deleted automatically as soon as the browser is shut down) is strictly limited to the purpose of transmitting data (made up of random numbers created by the server) identifying the specific session and necessary to allow a safe and efficient website surfing. The so-called session cookies used in this website avoid any other computer methods that could potentially compromise the privacy about users' web-surfing and they do not make it possible to obtain personal data identifying the specific user.

Data are processed by Procon both through computer-based tools (such as electronic procedures) and manually (such as on paper-based procedures) only for the limited time period necessary for the purposes of running the European Data Quarterly and, anyway, in compliance with the related law.

Procon takes reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of any personal information submitted through the EDQ website. Procon will store the personal information provided by users on its secure servers.

After the end of publication of the European Data Quarterly, any information obtained or captured within the EDQ website will be destroyed or irrevocably made anonymous.
